Watching Them

There’s this cat, in this one little hotel. It sits all day on the windowsill, second floor, third window on the right. It only moves at exactly eight o’clock in the morning and eight o’clock in the evening to receive some milk and fish from the friendly kitchen helper. At all other times it simply sits and stares like nothing, absolutely nothing, could ever affect its world.

Write about this cat. It doesn’t have to be from its point of view of course, although that might be worth a try as well. It could be from the POV of a curious visitor in the hotel, the paranoid owner of the place, the cook, or this kitchen helper that’s mentioned. Each of these characters would probably describe the cat differently – but who’s the narrator in the quote? You can find out: write! Photo by graur codrin.
